Canine Perspective is a structured dog daycare at 2926 W Lake St in Chicago. Instead of one loud open room, dogs are placed in small, carefully matched playgroups with structured activities and treadmill work, so they arrive home settled and tired rather than over-stimulated and wired.
For the responsible owner who wants their dog genuinely worked, not warehoused. And for reactive dogs most daycares won't take.

Most daycare is one big room, forty dogs, and a staff member counting the hours. Dogs come home overstimulated because that environment rehearses exactly the behavior you're trying to fix: charged arousal, no off switch, no structure. Ours is the opposite. We run small groups matched by temperament and play style, with real rest periods built into the day.
That structure is the whole point. A day here is a day of learning. Calm greetings, impulse control around other dogs, settling on a place, and physical work on the treadmill for dogs who need to burn a specific kind of energy. It's the difference between a dog that's exhausted and a dog that's regulated.

Every new dog completes our 3-Day Daycare Evaluation first. Dogs who have completed training and want to join our daycare pack still benefit from this discounted rate and slow introduction. We're a licensed operating kennel through the state of Illinois, insured and bonded.

What owners ask us.
Do you require a temperament evaluation before daycare?
Yes. Every dog starts with our 3-Day Daycare Evaluation so we can place them in the right group. Dogs who have completed training and want to join our daycare pack still benefit from this discounted rate and slow introduction. Reactive or aggressive dogs aren't forced into group play. We have an iso pen just for them where they can still see the full activity room. We never put baby in a corner.
What vaccinations do you require?
Rabies, Bordetella, Parvo, and Distemper with Leptospirosis, plus a clear fecal exam. Titer protection can substitute for the distemper and parvovirus vaccinations. We collect records in advance, before your dog's first day, and all new dogs need a fresh fecal sample from within the past month.
Is the treadmill safe?
Yes, when it's introduced correctly and never forced. It's structured, supervised, low-speed conditioning for dogs who need to discharge energy in a controlled way. We explain the how and why on our methods page.
My dog was kicked out of another daycare. Will you take him?
Yes! That's a large part of what we do. Book an evaluation and we'll tell you plainly what's realistic. No upsell, no false promises. Again, we will always work with difficult dogs. We do however sometimes have to turn away difficult owners.
Where are you located and what are your hours?
We're at 2926 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60612, in West Town on the city's West Side. We're open Monday through Friday, 7am to 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 6pm.
Do you offer pickup and drop-off?
Yes. We run door-to-door transportation for daycare, boarding, and training clients, from Irving Park to the South Loop and from Belmont Cragin to the Lakefront. Your dog has to be approved for transport before you book.
What neighborhoods do you serve?
West Town, West Loop, Wicker Park, Logan Square, Bucktown, Humboldt Park, Ukrainian Village, Lincoln Park, Garfield Park, and Oak Park, among other areas across Chicago's West Side and near-north side.

Daycare and boarding start with our 3-Day Evaluation, $145. Training starts with a $235 consultation with Jesse, in person at our facility or Oz Park, or over Google Meet. Either way we meet your dog, watch the behavior, and give you an honest read on what's realistic.
