Dog Obedience Training in Chicago

Our obedience training builds reliability that holds up in the real world. Heel, recall, place, and calm manners that work off the treat and around distractions. Sessions are private, one-on-one, at our facility or in your home, and always include coaching so you can maintain it.

For owners who don't have an aggression problem. Just a dog they want to actually listen, everywhere.

Dog Obedience Training in Chicago. Canine Perspective, Chicago

Most obedience 'training' produces a dog that performs in a quiet living room with a treat in your hand and falls apart the moment a squirrel shows up. We train for the opposite: a dog that heels past another dog, comes when called at the park, and settles when guests arrive.

We build that with clear communication and structure, then hand you the skills. The goal isn't a dog that obeys us. It's a dog that reliably listens to you.

Lessons are one-on-one with Jesse at Oz Park or our facility. Moving a single lesson to your home is a $50 upcharge. Outside the city we charge our in-home rate of $275 an hour, which also applies to travel time. Start with a $235 consultation.

What will my dog actually learn?

The commands that make daily life easier: heel, a recall that works around distractions, a solid place/stay, and calm greetings. We proof each one against real-world distractions so it holds up where you actually need it.

  • A tight Heel with auto-Sits
  • Reliable, distraction-proof recall
  • Place / stay and settling on cue
  • Polite greetings and door manners
  • Off-leash reliability where appropriate

Private, in-home, or at the facility?

Whatever fits the goal. In-home training tackles behavior that happens at home; facility sessions add controlled distractions and structure. Many owners do both. We'll recommend the mix at the consultation.

Why does the training hold up when other programs fade?

Because we coach you, not just the dog. Every session ends with clear homework so the skills become habits. A dog only stays trained if the person holding the leash knows how to keep it there.

Do you train off-leash obedience?

Reactive and aggressive dogs get a lot of attention, but Jesse is also Chicago's best off-leash obedience trainer. If you want more for your family pet, from hiking adventures to letting loose in Chicago's parks, we'll get you the safe, reliable recall that gives your dog the very best life.

Questions

What owners ask us.

How many sessions will my dog need?

It depends on the dog and your goals, but most owners see real change inside a handful of sessions plus consistent homework. We give you a realistic number at the consultation rather than an open-ended package.

Is my dog too old to train?

No. Older dogs learn well. The 'old dog' myth is mostly about owners giving up early. If your dog is healthy, we can make progress.

Where are you located and what are your hours?

We're at 2926 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60612, in West Town on the city's West Side. We're open Monday through Friday, 7am to 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 6pm.

Do you offer pickup and drop-off?

Yes. We run door-to-door transportation for daycare, boarding, and training clients, from Irving Park to the South Loop and from Belmont Cragin to the Lakefront. Your dog has to be approved for transport before you book.

What neighborhoods do you serve?

West Town, West Loop, Wicker Park, Logan Square, Bucktown, Humboldt Park, Ukrainian Village, Lincoln Park, Garfield Park, and Oak Park, among other areas across Chicago's West Side and near-north side.

How do I get started?

Daycare and boarding start with our 3-Day Evaluation, $145. Training starts with a $235 consultation with Jesse, in person at our facility or Oz Park, or over Google Meet. Either way we meet your dog, watch the behavior, and give you an honest read on what's realistic.
